Administration Officer Required: Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG)

The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) is seeking a full-time Administration Officer to join its team in Chippendale.

The AWG is a not-for-profit organisation and the peak professional association representing Australian performance writers including film, television, theatre, radio and digital media.

The right candidate will be well presented, have excellent communication skills and a friendly, confident manner to take responsibility for all aspects of administration and contribute to the smooth running of the office.

The main duties of the role include:

  • Reception
  • Meeting and greeting members
  • Answering and directing incoming telephone calls and emails
  • Processing support for events, competitions, proposals, reports etc
  • Dealing with incoming/outgoing post and couriers/deliveries
  • Maintaining office supplies
  • Facilities management eg maintenance, furniture, office service contracts
  • Processing support for memberships during peak activity periods/leave
  • Office petty cash and banking

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer focus
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and be part of a team
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience using Microsoft applications
  • Ability to plan for and achieve deadlines
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Strong work ethic and values that include honesty and integrity

Desirable Criteria:

  • Reception/administration experience
  • Experience using Filemaker Pro database
  • Experience in a charitable or not-for-profit organisation
