Alien Boy tells the story of Miki, a young Hungarian immigrant who is a daily victim of playground bullying. Living in a mainly anglo-area, the majority of his classmates taunts are racially motivated. One day after school, Miki is watching his favourite TV show, the news, and sees a news report about a Cronulla-style riot which has broken out due to new boat people policies.
Alien Boy screened at the Surfer’s Paradise Festival’s Shorts in Paradise Film Festival and the DOP, Ross Giardina, won the best cinematography Award. The film was written and directed by Miles Szanto and the film was produced as part of Metro Screen’s First Break 2011 funding initiative
