Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Schulman (Best Screenplay 1989 for Dead Poets Society) and Oscar-winning producer Emile Sherman (Best Motion Picture 2011 for The King’s Speech) have just been announced to speak at the Australian Writers’ Guild’s biennial National Screenwriters Conference next month.

Come and hear these top industry practitioners share their expertise alongside a wealth of the world’s best, including Oscar-nominated AWG President Jan Sardi (Best Screenplay 1996 for Shine); writers of Oscar-winning films Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Happy Feet (John Collee), Moulin Rouge! (Craig Pearce) and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Stephan Elliott); international headliner Paul Abbott (Emmy- and BAFTA-winning creator of Shameless); writer on SBS’s twice Walkley-nominated Go Back to Where You Came From (Michael Cordell); and so many more.

The NSC is not just for writers, and industry guests include Mike Cowap (Screen Australia), Antony I. Ginnane (IFM World Releasing/F G Film Productions), Greg Haddrick (Screentime), Tarni James (ABC), Seph McKenna (Roadshow Films) and Linda Klejus (Circa Media), amongst others.

The conference provides some of the industry’s best networking opportunities due to its retreat-like setting – this year in Victoria’s stunning Mornington Peninsula. Formal discussions and informal gatherings offer unrivalled access to top guests and unparallelled opportunities to develop ongoing creative partnerships.
