In celebration of the acclaimed David Bowie Is exhibition, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) gallery will be open late on Thursday and Friday nights with live entertainment.
On Thursday nights, ACMI paints on a lightning bolt and pulls on its tightest jumpsuit for an up close and intimate evening of DJs spinning tunes to celebrate David Bowie.
On Friday’s Bowie Late Nights presents a diverse program of live music performance and DJs throughout the exhibition’s strictly limited season. Music is Bowie-inspired; a nod to one of the most influential artists in rock, pop, fashion and performance. Performers include top Australian bands, performers, electronic artists and solo musicians including Total Giovanni, Bombay Royale, Sleep D, Rat & Co, Geraldine Quinn, Mojo Juju, and local DJs, VJs and video artists.
The after-dark experience comes with a bar and a place to relax, out of the cold, while enjoying the entertainment and exhibition, all the way from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
Due to limited capacity, priority entry will be given to those with David Bowie Is tickets.
ACMI is the exclusive Australasian venue for a strictly limited season of the David Bowie Is exhibition. Drawing upon unprecedented access to the David Bowie archive, the exhibition includes over 300 objects including lyric sheets, photographs, stage sets, rare videos, filmed live shows, memorabilia and costumes. David Bowie Is shows at ACMI until 1 November 2015.
Date: Thursday 16 July to Friday 30 October 2015
Time: 6pm to 9pm
