Congratulations to Writer/Director Hawanatu Bangura on the success of her short film Money Tree!

Money Tree is an animation about Solomon, a destitute African boy trapped in poverty who has dreams of becoming rich. One day while roaming the village market he finds a coin belonging to a female shopper, which he plants to create an orchid of money.

Since it was produced in 2011 through Metro Screen’s Breaks program, Money Tree has screened in over 15 national and international film festivals. This year the film screened at the Montreal Film Festival, and more recently has been selected for the Nile’s Diaspora International Film Festival in Uganda.

Well done Hawanatu from everyone at Metro Screen.
