I’m seeking a cinematographer and sound person for a short film I have written and plan to direct. It’s a deadpan/comedy/drama about the exploits of street hustlers, miscreants and homeless youth as they try to find some meaning. The film is inspired by the throngs of young people who are currently living on the fringes of society.
Ideally, I would like to shoot during winter in Sydney for the cold, miserable aesthetic. I would like to shoot on 16mm, so a knowledge of film cameras would be a plus. As a reference, I envisage the feel to be similar to Jim Jarmusch’s Permanent Vacation (see a couple of clips: Intro: Permanent Vacation and the infamous ‘Dance Scene’).
I am funding this film myself and I am willing to pay you for your work. Having said that, the budget is not huge.
I will be looking to shoot street scenes as night and early mornings to try and avoid any issues with permits, authority and traffic.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to work together in a fun/fortuitous way.
