Metro Screen BOARD OF DIRECTORS
PRESIDENT – Marcus Gillezeau
Marcus is a producer and director and principal partner at Firelight Productions. He is best known for Afrika – Cape Town to Cairo and Little Dove – Big Voyage. Marcus has also published Hands On ­ New Technology in Documentary Making and Hands On – A Practical Guide to Production and Technologies in Film, TV and New Media. He has delivered presentations at numerous industry conferences and seminars.

VICE PRESIDENT – Liz Watts
Liz Watts is an independent producer and a principal partner of Porchlight Films based in Sydney. Liz latest feature The Home Song Stories, directed by Tony Ayres, starring Joan Chen was released in 2007. Her previous feature was Little Fish, directed by Rowan Woods with a cast including Cate Blanchett, Sam Neill, and Hugo Weaving. Liz also produced Jewboy, made with Writer/ Director Tony Krawitz, Walking on Water, directed by Tony Ayres. Liz’s earlier productions include Martha’s New Coat, Delivery Day, Buried Country, The Pitch, Island Style, One That Got Away and Help Me.

TREASURER – Grahame Thompson
Grahame Thompson is a Senior Executive Search Consultant working with a boutique Brisbane based Search and Consulting Firm. Grahame has spent 26 years in finance, having worked in the FMCG, IT Services and Banking sectors. Grahame has diverse experience in both large and small organisations and is the Sole Practitioner of his own Tax and Management Consulting business. More recently Grahame has an established business marketing and importing organic and premium whole rolled leaf teas from the mountains of Taiwan.

Delia Browne
Delia Browne is the National Copyright Director of the Copyright Advisory Group (CAG). Delia has previously worked for Minter Ellison providing specialist copyright advice and as the Executive Director at the Arts Law Centre of Australia. Delia has lectured in Commercial Law at the University of Auckland and conducted a legal consultancy in entertainment law representing screenwriters, directors, and film producers.

Sharon Connolly
Sharon Connolly has more than 20 years experience in the Australian film and television industry. She has been a writer, script editor, director and producer in film, television and multimedia. In the 1980s she co-founded Yarra Bank Films, for which she produced and directed documentaries including Red Matildas, Keen as Mustard, Land Bilong Islanders and Paper Trail. Sharon has held senior positions with Film Victoria, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Film Australia. As Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Film Australia from 1997-2004 she led the company through a major and successful repositioning whilst overseeing production of some of its highest profile titles.

Ian Gardiner
Ian Gardiner has been running successful technology start-ups for the last ten years and at the forefront of Internet Broadcasting for over five years having co-founded Viocorp in 2002. Over this time he has amassed crucial in-depth knowledge of the market and has consistently strived to develop capabilities in delivering the very best in rich media. He has a degree in Engineering and Economics from Oxford University and is now a proud Australian citizen.

Andy Lloyd James
Andy Lloyd James started out in television in 1970, becoming Head of Documentary Features at ABC TV in the early eighties. In 1988 he was appointed Head of Television at SBS TV and in the mid 1990’s he conceived and inaugurated SBS Independent. In 1996 he became Head of Drama at the ABC and within a year was appointed Head of National Networks with responsibility for ABC TV, the five national radio networks and ABC OnLine. Andy left the ABC in 2000 and divided his time between consulting and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney. Recently Andy accepted the position of Head Research and Screen Studies at AFTRS.

Mark McMillan
Mark is a Wiradjuri man from Trangie in central NSW. He received his undergraduate law degree from the ANU, has studied First Nations legal issues at the University of British Columbia and has been admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court (ACT). Mark has also worked with ATSIC in a variety of capacities and has successfully completed the Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre Certificate Course. Since joining Ngiya in 2002 Mark has worked on a number of research projects and has recently completed a Masters of Law and Policy degree at the University of Arizona. In 2007 Mark participated in Metro Screen’s Lester Bostock Mentorship Scheme.

Frances Peters-Little
Frances Peters-Little is a Research Fellow and the Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Indigenous History at the Australian National University. Frances has a BA degree in Communications from UTS and a Masters of Philosophy from the ANU. In addition to the many films she has made, Frances has also published widely in various international and local academic journals. Frances is currently writing a book entitled The Return of the Noble Savage.
