Defendant 5: The Fall of the House of Gunns is a documentary webisode series supported by Metro Screen’s Breaks Story to Screen Program 2013. The series is about a corporation that grows too big for its boots and tramples the community, and the people who fight back. It’s told through the eyes of a filmmaker thrust into the eye of the storm. The filmmakers have a social change campaign running alongside the film and their first public education hosts an expert panel exploring numerous cutting-edge issues including environmental justice, human rights and corporate responsibility.
Speakers include Gunns20 Defense Counsel leader Mr Julian Burnside AO QC; Academic Sharon Beder, who’s research has focussed on how power relationships are maintained and challenged, particularly by corporations and professions; Dr Gerry Bates environmental law academic and former MP for Tasmania; and Mr Pepe Clarke, Chief Executive Officer for The Nature Conservation Council of NSW.
