Woollahra Council, in partnership with People with Disabilities Australia, is providing free Disability Awareness Training for community members and businesses.

Untangle some of the myths held about people with disabilities in this FREE full-day workshop, which has been developed to empower locals to work effectively and confidently with people with disabilities and to help create a supportive community for people with disability.

Facts:

• One in five Australians has a disability.
• Every week, five more Australians sustain a spinal cord injury and 10 to 15 sustain a severe traumatic brain injury.
• Every two hours, an Australian child will be diagnosed with an intellectual disability.

Subjects covered include: the diverse nature of disability and individual needs, barriers and accessibility issues, appropriate language.
