In this short informative talk you’ll learn about how 21st century brands are communicating their purpose and values drawing on storytelling techniques more commonly found in mythology, novels and films. We’ll look at some fantastic case studies and discuss how this positive and aspirational marketing is a new form of modern day mythmaking.
Jamie Engel runs workshops on creative entrepreneurship teaching creatives how they can develop their own brands as well as take advantage of the 21st century connection economy to launch personal creative projects into the market. He also teaches multi-platform branding, storytelling, interactive technology and entrepreneurship at Billy Blue College of Design in North Sydney and General Assembly in Sydney. His background includes 15 years in film and television as a 3D animator doing special effects for numerous motion pictures including Contact, Mars Attacks, Starship Troopers. He has also written 6 feature film scripts including a Trilogy that is currently in development as an interactive graphic novel for iPad.
