This student production is an exciting short film with a quirky twist at the end.
Logline: When the double bassist of a small orchestra tries to introduce a new sound, his attempts are met with passionate protests from the conservative guitarist who refuses to let go of his past.
We will be shooting on 9, 10 and 11 October 2015.
We are looking for actors who are strong in comedic timing!
Although the roles are based around musicians, you do not need to be a musician for this role as we will be using an external soundtrack.
Auditions will be held on 26 September 2015 in Paddington.
This film will be a great addition to your showreel ! We hope to enter the film in international competitions for 2016. Also catering will be provided- so come down, have some fun and enjoy some free food!
MALE ROLE –VICTOR
Age: 60-70 years old.
The conservative guitarist. Being one of the original musicians of the orchestra, he maintains strong traditions as to how the orchestra should run. He hates change and uses all his authority to maintain a similitude to how things were in the past- when he was happy.
Disposition: Narrow-minded, stubborn and cynical.
MALE ROLE – JACK
Age: mid-late 20s.
The double bassist. He’s the youngest and newest addition to the orchestra. He’s empowered and self-assured, he hasn’t experienced many of life’s disappointments yet. Jack is in the stage of life, where he feels invincible. He’s considering his options and where he’d like to be in 20 years. He wants to make a change in his world, he wants to live a fulfilled life with no regrets—this gives him courage to make a change.
Disposition: Idealistic, determined and inspired.
FEMALE ROLE – INGRID
The pianist. Not one of many words, she suffers extreme timidity. She prefers the safety of observation rather than involvement. Her ultimate fear is confrontation, thus making her a diligent yet anxious worker.
Disposition: Extremely up-tight and nervy.
MALE ROLE – BEN
The percussionist. Diagnosed with ADHD as a child, his was encouraged to exert his energy
into playing drums. He’s easy-going and non-judgmental disposition make him an easy person to get along with.
Disposition: Easily distracted, optimistic and relaxed.
