Eastside Radio 89.7FM in association with the City of Sydney and Sydney Rides Festival presents Global Rhythms: an annual World Music festival in Sydney. It is a celebration of the cultural diversity that exists within this city, showcasing unique varieties of dance, film, food and live music. By bringing together different communities in the pursuit of social harmony, Global Rhythms positively adds to the international image of the city as a vibrant and creative cultural hub.
Held for the first time in Prince Alfred Park Surry Hills this event features some of the most exciting and contemporary world music sounds. From Afro Nomad’s West African Soukos and the catholics world dance rhythms to Dereb the Ambasadors Ethiopian soul and Abuka Trio’s Brazilian funk this festival will make you move. Also included is Mongolian throat singer Bukhu with Horse and Wood plus Charlie McMahon and Gondwana Band while the inclusion of Tiago and Rafa’s Untitled ensures contemporary cutting edge sounds all afternoon.
2013 sees our event included for the first time in the Sydney Rides Festival. So come along and Try2Wheels or ride on over and take advantage of free bike valet parking!
There’s also an international array of food and cuisine from all corners of the globe and with Metro Screen launching the United Nations of Film, Global Rhythms is set to become a staple of the Sydney festival circuit. So jump on your bike and peddle your way around the world to Surry Hills for this unique outdoor family friendly event.
