Improv in Film, TV & Animation: A Panel Discussion And Q&A With The WorkJuice Players

The Laugh-Masters Academy are so excited to be collaborating with Metro Screen and The Thrilling Adventure Hour gang to bring you this amazing panel discussion and Q&A on improvisation and the role it plays in TV, animation and film. If you’re a writer, director, producer, or in any way involved in the making of film, TV or animation, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you don’t want to miss. Come spend 90 minutes with some of the biggest legends in the current comedy and improv scene while they’re in town to perform their hit show at The Sydney Comedy Festival.

• Craig Cackowski (Drunk History; Community; Veep) Improv teacher and coach for films such as Kings of Summer. Improvises with IO West, Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade. Part of long-form comedy group: Dasariski.

• Marc Evan Jackson (22 Jump Street; Brooklyn 99) Improv teacher, coach and founder of Detroit Creativity Project.

• Paul F. Tompkins (No! You Shut Up; Netflix’s Bojack Horseman) Creator of improvisational hit podcasts like SPONTANEANATION (#1 podcast) and Dead Authors Podcast. Paul is also a regular on Comedy Bang Bang and Superego podcasts.

• Mark Gagliardi (Drunk History) Improv coach who improvises with Freedom Snatch. Second City and National Lampoon vet.

• Annie Savage (Uncle Nick; Conan) Improviser, sketch comedian and Second City vet. Annie is also a writer and performer with National Lampoon’s Lemmings Tour.

• Hal Lublin (Welcome to Night Vale) Voiceover actor and improviser who performs with Second City, Io West and The Groundlings. Hal is also a writer for David Feldman’s Radio Program.

• Janet Varney (Legend of Korra; Entourage) Comedian, improviser and founder of San Francisco’s Sketch Fest, now in its 15th year. Former host of TBS’s Dinner & A Movie. Host of Nerdist’s The JV Club.

The panel will be moderated by none other than Thrilling Adventure Hour co-creator Ben Acker whose credits include TV writing for Netflix and DreamWorks; and comic writing for Marvel, Dynamite, and Image comics.
