Metro Screen would like to congratulate Jumpstart subsidy recipients Melissa Anastasi and Julia-Rose Lewis, whose short film This Feral Life was launched online today.
Mia dreams of escaping her dead-end town and making something of her life. She wants to drink more. Dance more. Sleep more. But is there more to life than this? Following her father’s death she must make her own way through the minefield of grief and adolescence.
Starring Airlie Dodds, directed by Melissa Anastasi and written by Melissa and Julia-Rose Lewis from Julia-Rose’s original monologue for stage, as part of The Voices Project, for the Australian Theatre for Young People, and was subsidised by the Metro Screen Jumpstart program and the Australian Theatre for Young People. Produced by Kate Vinen and Dan Prichard, and shot by Director of Photography, Seamus Mullen, the 11 minute short film is a lyrical, meditative look at life, loss and longing in a small country Australian town.
