The Australian Writers’ Foundation is pleased to announce that the prestigious Foxtel Screenwriters’ Address will this year be presented by one of Australia’s most admired writers, actors and directors Leah Purcell. An award-winning writer for both screen and stage, Leah’s contribution to the Indigenous canon has been considerable. Her screenwriting credits include documentary film Black Chicks Talking, short film She. Say. and most recently Consequences for the groundbreaking TV drama Redfern Now. A proud Goa-Gunggari-Wakka Wakka Murri woman Leah will share her evolution as a writer, from a curious young girl in rural Queensland to a respected and prolific artist.

This address, generously supported by Foxtel, is a breakthrough in recognising the role the writer plays in shaping our society and culture.
