The next Ozdox session will feature acclaimed Filmmaker and Writer David MacDougall who has just received a Life Achievement Award from the Royal Anthropological Institute, London. It’s a discussion/screening of his work at AFTRS on Wed 18th September 2013. Ozdox has monthly sessions but this is really a special opportunity, unlikely to happen again in Sydney. David is regarded as one of the world’s leading ethnographic filmmakers. He is a noted scholar and writer on cinema, his films are extraordinary, and his approach to shooting them inspirational. David is widely recognised in documentary circles around the world, with retrospectives of his work having been held in New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Freiburg & Tokyo. His first film, To Live with Herds, won the Grand Prix “Venezia Genti” at the Venice Film Festival in 1972 and many of us believe that over the past forty years his work has only become better and deeper.
