Persian International Film Festival

By September 5, 2014 Events

Now in its third year, the Persian International Film Festival showcases the work of one of the most exciting and innovative film cultures on the planet.

Opening the festival is the latest release from multi-award winning Iranian Writer/Director Mohammad Rasoulof—Manuscripts Don’t Burn. This highly controversial drama is based on the true story of the government’s attempted 1995 murder of several prominent writers and intellectuals. It earned Rasoulof a year in prison and has been banned from his native country.

In stark contrast, the closing night film Don’t Be Tired! is an amusing and heart-warming tale set in rarely seen landscapes of Iran. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2013 London Iranian Film Festival, Don’t Be Tired! portrays the experiences of a tourist couple, Roman and Maria, as they embark on a road trip through unknown terrain.
