Tropfest is extremely excited to announce that one of Australia’s most successful film exports, Sam Worthington, will be joining the line up for the 21st Tropfest weekend, which takes place later this month. Worthington rose to fame as the lead in Cate Shortland’s critically acclaimed film Somersault and became a household name after he landed the lead role in James Cameron’s Avatar soon after, which went on to become the biggest box office hit in cinematic history. Previously, he had also played a part in Tropfest’s storied history having entered successful films and even winning the Best Actor Award back in 2001 when the event was in its relative infancy. In addition to taking on duties as a judge at this year’s event, Worthington will speak at Tropfest Roughcut, a talk-fest aimed at emerging filmmakers and other passionate film lovers, taking place on Saturday 16th February. He joins a stellar line-up of local film industry talent including Rebecca Gibney, Gyton Grantley and Magda Szubanski.
When: Saturday 16th February 2013
