Brazilian funk, sultry tango and Mexican folk music will feature alongside exclusive screenings of some of the hottest new Latin American short films at this year’s Shorts & Sounds event. This annual celebration of the diverse cultures of Latin America is a fundraiser for the Sydney Latin American Film Festival, a non-profit organisation whose proceeds go to grassroots community development projects across the Latin world. Last year’s Shorts & Sounds event sold out, and this year we’re moving to a larger venue where punters will be treated to performances by 10-piece Brazilian funk cohort Kriola Collective, Mexican harpist Victor Valdes, tango trio Tango Bar and dancers from Belen Tango. The night will also be peppered with screenings of award-winning short films selected for the upcoming 8th Sydney Latin American Film Festival which runs from 4th to 15th September 2013.
The event includes live performances from Kriola Collective, Tango Bar, Belen Tango and Victor Valdes.
