Silent Films at The Mittagong Playhouse

On Saturdays, 7th September and 9th  November 2013,   Australia’s Silent Film Festival is proud to present two wondrous sessions of restored silent films at the Mittagong Playhouse.

Saturday 7th September 2013 at 3pm

The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) by Lotte Reiniger.

This magnificently colored and digitally restored masterpiece is presented with a wonderful soundtrack. “The complex tale of Achmed, his beloved, the wicked Magician, the kindly and powerful Ogre, the magical flying horse, and all the other characters are presented in this astonishing and enchanting array of silhouetted puppets.” Do not miss this rare presentation of the world’s first animated feature film!

Before the film Richard Bradshaw OAM shall present his shadow puppets and provide a talk about the work of Lotte Reiniger whom he met on a number of occasions.
