Sydney Film Festival announces the World Premiere of Gillian Armstrong’s documentary, Women He’s Undressed, which will screen on-board the Sun Princess in Sydney Harbour on Wednesday 10 June.
Women He’s Undressed takes an intimate look at the life of Academy Award-winning Australian designer Orry-Kelly, a Kiama-born designer who created wardrobes for the silver screen from the 1930s to 1960s. Kelly’s design credits include Hollywood’s biggest studios, most memorable stars, and film hits such as Some Like it Hot and An American in Paris.
“We could not think of anything more appropriate and exciting than to have the premiere on a grand ship on the very harbour young, penniless Orry-Kelly sailed from in 1922 with dreams of showbiz success,” said the film’s director Gillian Armstrong. “I can’t wait to frock up and have cocktails on the deck at sunset and toast his extraordinary life and talent.”
“Women He’s Undressed is about a most fascinating Australian Hollywood luminary,” said Festival Director Nashen Moodley. “We are proud to be screening the World Premiere at Sydney Film Festival.”
Sydney Film Festival runs from 3–14 June 2015.
The full program of 200+ films will be launched on Wednesday 6 May at 11am.
