Sydney Film Festival Comes to Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre

By February 19, 2013 Events

Sydney Film Festival’s Travelling Film Festival will bring a selection of highlight films from the 2012 festival to the Casula Powerhouse Theatre, for the very first time, from 8th to 10th March 2013. Tickets are now available online, as well as the box office at Casula Powerhouse. In this inaugural year of programming at Casula Powerhouse, SFF will present five features and three shorts from six countries including pre-release and exclusive titles. This season will also include special authentic Movie & Meal events and a short film program and workshop presented by Blackfella Films. Blackfella Films have partnered with SFF to bring Casula Powerhouse the very best of Indigenous films from Australia and around the world, delivering a program of Indigenous short films and a FREE workshop with one of the most promising emerging Indigenous filmmakers. Program and guest TBA.

Opening Night [Friday 8th March at 7pm] features the winner of Cannes Film Festival Jury prize, The Angels’ Share. This charming film by the great Ken Loach is well-loved by audiences and critics alike; a bittersweet comedy about redemption, kilts and whisky. It’s a heart-warming tale of a group of former criminals who turn to drink and ironically change their lives. Opening Night also screens the short film Julian, a Dendy Awards Finalist at SFF 2012.
