ALIENS

The Aliens, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker (The Flick 2014), will have its Sydney premiere at The Old Fitz on Tuesday 25 August at 7.30pm.

In the grubby backyard of a coffee shop in small-town Vermont, two professional slackers discuss music, Charles Bukowski’s poetry and ex-girlfriends, and sing songs. When a teenage employee asks them to relocate, they find the disciple they’ve been waiting for.

This beat-tinged, psychotropic journey will be brought to life by Ben Wood (Redfern Now, Ghost Stories, Rupert), Jeremy Waters (Four Places, Lobby Hero, Jerusalem) and James Bell (Billy in Warhorse, STC’s Children of the SunSound of Music). With tender empathy and offbeat humour, the play examines the ties that bind and break us to our fellow human being.

Annie Baker is the most talented American playwright of her generation. No question. — The Age

A gentle and extraordinarily beautiful new play. — New York Times
