The Chicago International Children’s Film Festival has earned a reputation for presenting the very best in youth and children’s media from around the world. The Festival advocates inspired and innovative programming. We are seeking humanistic, culturally diverse, and compelling films that reveal the world in new ways and leave room for the child’s own imaginative response.
Now in its 32nd year, the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival is the oldest and largest festival of films for children in the US. It was also the world’s first Academy Award-qualifying children’s film festival. The Festival is adjudicated by three juries: an adult jury, a youth jury, and a children’s jury.
In 2014, 300 films from 43 countries were screened to approximately 25,000 people, including children, parents and teachers; and to 100 filmmakers.
This year’s Festival includes participatory programs for children as well as professional development opportunities for filmmakers and attendees. The films will be presented at five venues throughout the Chicago area from 23 October to 1 November.
