In 2014 Good Pitch² Australia was introduced to invigorate the Australian Documentary Film landscape and the possibility for strengthen the creation of feature length creative documentaries with a strong emphasis on social impact. Bringing together filmmakers with NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, potential corporate and brand partners, broadcasters and media to forge powerful alliances.
In this Doc_Space session we will have the opportunity to reflect on the past two versions of Good Pitch² Australia and to gain insight into what the future holds.
Dr. Mitzi Goldman
Mitzi Goldman is a Producer of Good Pitch² Australia and currently CEO of the Documentary Australia Foundation, bringing philanthropists and filmmakers together to create social change. Mitzi has written, produced, edited and directed award-winning international documentaries for over 25 years. Her films have screened in festivals around the world and have received many nominations and awards. She has made commissioned work for ABC, SBS, ITVS, ARTE, NGTI, Ch4, YLE and sold her documentaries to many other international broadcasters. Mitzi was Co-Head of Documentary at AFTRS.
Sally Fryer (ASE) is a Producer of Good Pitch² Australia, Senior Editor at Shark Island Productions and a Director of Shark Island Institute. She was a founding Director of the Documentary Australia Foundation.
She has 19 years experience as a freelance documentary film editor and has cut over 100 documentaries during her career. She worked principally for the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK and for the ABC and SBS since arriving in Australia in 1998. In 2008 she won the AFI Award for Best Editing in a Documentary for The Oasis – an observational feature documentary shot over two years about a group of severely disadvantaged kids who live on the streets of inner Sydney.
