The Speed Networking Event is always a highlight of the Metro Screen event calendar. You’ll meet fresh new faces including producers, directors, cinematographers, writers, editors, actors, animators, VFX specialists, and digital media professionals. It’s also a great opportunity to sweep up this year’s hot-shots on the rise for your creative team. Our last networking event in June completely sold out. This time entry is free but registered guests will get first priority, it will book out so get in early.
Be warned- speed networking is fast and loud! So come prepared with business cards or pre-load your phone with BUMP and your work so that you can swap contacts quickly. You can keep the conversation going at one of the many festival bars or check out one of the films screening at the Cockatoo Island Film Festival which is also happening on the island alongside SPAA Fringe.
Some Handy Tips for Speed Networking:
SPAA Fringe is an industry conference presented by the Screen Producers Association of Australia. There are a range of workshops, roundtables, one-on-one sessions, panel discussions, film screenings and social networking events to get involved in. SPAA Fringe offers a unique opportunity for the emerging sector to spend quality time with established filmmakers, TV execs and other industry professionals.
In 2012 SPAA Fringe will take place during the inaugural Cockatoo Island Film Festival, running from 24 – 28 October. Cockatoo Island Film Festival will feature the largest international competitive film program in Australia, showcasing films to the Australian and International screen industry, along with an estimated 45,000 festival-goers over 5 days on the stunning Cockatoo Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Why not make the most of the festival whilst on Cockatoo Island for Speed Networking? Early Bird Pre-Program release tickets, passes and accommodation packages are now available from http://www.cockatooislandfilmfestival.com.au.
Festival Ferries will be in operation from 24-28 October, exclusively servicing Cockatoo Island during the Cockatoo Island Film Festival. Regular Festival Ferries will depart from King St Wharf, with tickets available to pre-purchase online or on departure from Cockatoo Island. Return tickets are $10 for an Adult or $5 for a Concession Pass holder or child. Please visit the Cockatoo Island Film Festival website for more information on how to get to the island.
