Following its outstanding reception at the opening night of Melbourne International Film Festival, Force of Destiny will be screening at major film festivals around the country this year, featuring special guests and speakers.
Force of Destiny is an extraordinary story by veteran filmmaker Paul Cox, based on his own journey of love on a transplant waiting list. David Wenham stars as Robert, a renowned sculptor diagnosed with liver cancer. While reeling from this news he falls in love with an Indian marine biologist called Maya (Shahana Goswami), and is forced to confront the agony and ecstasy of finding the love that has evaded him his entire life, just as his body is about to die. New hope comes when he’s placed on the transplant waiting list.
Force of Destiny is due to screen at Cinefest Oz on 27 August and the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival in November. It will also be opening the Albury Border Mail Film Festival this month and the Darwin International Film Festival in September. The screenings will be presented with a Q&A or special introduction with director Paul Cox, actors David Wenham, Hannah Fredericksen, Jacqueline McKenzie, Terry Norris and Julia Blake, producers Maggie Miles and Mark Patterson, and other creatives including sculptor Trefor Prest who created the work for the film.
