Last week Mardi Gras Film Festival released the program for the 22nd Festival, and we’re pleased to find it’s packed with plenty of treats for cinema lovers.
Program highlights include A Girl at My Door, a thrilling Korean film which received a three-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival in 2014; the almost sold-out opening night film The Circle, winner of the coveted Teddy Award for Best Documentary at Berlin Film Festival 2014; Festival guest Sigrid Thornton who will be attend the screening of her latest film BFFs; and closing night’s very fun Queen of Amsterdam about a small gay bar that is facing bankruptcy until its loyal patrons band together and plan a Mission: Impossible-style heist to save it.
Our gorgeous city, Sydney, takes centre stage in three premiere films, each one featuring a Q&A session with the cast and crew as well as an official after party: Drown is set in and around our very own Sydney beaches; All About E is about a highly sought-after Sydney DJ whose life changes forever when she stumbles on a bundle of cash; and Skin Deep is set in and around our very own Newtown.
